Brazilian Bikini Swimwear

The advent of the bikini in swimwear created quite a fervor in its time, but nothing such as would be seen at the introduction of the Brazilian bikini swimwear.  The smallest and most revealing of any swimsuit ever seen, the Brazilian was so daring that no model would even display it in public.

When the bikini first emerged in the late 1940’s, women were also emerging.  Before the second World War, women had little place in the world except the kitchen and bedroom.  During the war, many women stepped up the absence of their men and took jobs in just about every industry.  When the war finished, women were not about to step behind the curtain into obscurity once again.  Filled with determination and enthusiasm to join the changing world, clothing styles changed also to reflect their newfound self-worth.

Swimwear became important as more and more people ventured to the beaches to swim, surf and dive.  Encouraged by the movie trends of the 1960’s, more bikinis found their way onto America’s beaches.  The first models were thought provocative; after all, more skin than had ever been seen was being displayed in public.  Bellybuttons were flaunted, cleavage boldly put on view and legs were visible from the ankle to the hip.  These were thought to be adventurous and daring exhibitions, but they were nothing compared to the Brazilian bikini swimwear that was making its debut in France.

Louis Reard’s bikini creation was such a culture shock to the people of the time that the best known models refused to display the suit on fashion show runways in France.  To announce his new creation, it was necessary to hire an exotic nude dancer who was oblivious to the disapproving attitudes of the community when she modeled the skimpy suit.

Today, Brazilian swimsuits are highly sought after for their provocative styles as well as their lovely colors and materials.  They are still known to be suits that offer the least coverage, making them Ripple Brazilian Tie Bikini Bottom - BLACK (L)extremely popular among the adventurous.  The suits are also very flattering to a woman’s body; accentuating curves and body lines.  Available in numerous styles including string, bandito, ties and thongs, the suits are among the most popular sold.

Showing off a well toned and tanned body is easy when displayed in Brazilian bikini swimwear. Featuring some of the smallest suits available in the swimwear industry, these bikinis are a fashion statement that have come a long way in swimsuit history.
